WACA have just been granted Community Action Group status, which means we will be joining a network of voluntary community groups working towards environmental improvements in the locality.

We join 23  groups in Oxfordshire including the other Wantage based group Plastic Not Fanatistic, who are aiming for a plastic bag free Wantage. All CAG's are run by volunteers mainly focusing on reducing landfill by encouraging recycling, reuse and a reduction in waste. WACA has an energy reduction focus, but will also be encouraging recycling/reuse etc as a way of reducing energy.

The project is funded by Oxfordshire County Council (www.oxfordshire.gov.uk) and managed by The resources Futures (www.resourcefutures.org.uk) For more info on CAGs see www.caoxfordshire.org.uk
