- Staged a debate on tackling climate change with speakers from different political parties and from a carbon counting group, along with the manager of Didcot Power Station.
- Put pressure on the Government to re-open Wantage
and Grove railway station. Currently this campaign has hit the buffers. 324 letters were sent to Ruth Kelly in October 2007 petitioning to reopen the station. A response to this came via Ed Vaisey and stated that it is for Oxfordshire County Council to decide whether re-opening the station should be part of its Local Transport Plan and Regional Transport Strategy. OCC tell us that it does not fall within their current LTP , which runs to 2011. We need to continue to press for this.
- Screened AI Gore's film " An Inconvenient Truth " at Wantage Civic Hall. This well-attended event was followed by lively discussion in which audience members were able to ask questions of a panel of experts in the field of climate change.
- Put together a green village at Wantage's Rock in the Park event, with a range of stalls on transport, the home, energy and waste.
